Chemical Name: ROSUVASTATIN (roe-SOO-va-STAT-in)
Common uses Crestor 10mg is an HMG-CoA reductase
inhibitor (also known as a "statin") used with a proper diet to help lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels and
to raise good cholesterol (HDL) levels in certain patients. It is used to slow atherosclerosis (narrowing of the
arteries) in patients with high blood cholesterol levels. It is used in certain patients to reduce the risk of
heart attack or stroke. It is also used in certain patients to reduce the need for medical procedures to open
blocked heart vessels. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Before using
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Crestor 10mg. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all
prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT TAKE CRESTOR 10mg if you are also taking
itraconazole, mibefradil, or telithromycin. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you
are taking colchicine, daptomycin, fibrates (eg, clofibrate, fenofibrate, or gemfibrozil), HIV protease inhibitors
(eg, atazanavir, lopinavir, ritonavir), immunosuppressants (eg, cyclosporine), niacin, anticoagulants (eg,
warfarin), cimetidine, ketoconazole, macrolide immunosuppressants (eg, tacrolimus), spironolactone, or
thrombopoietin mimetics (eg, eltrombopag). DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including low blood pressure; a serious infection; kidney
problems; liver problems; an underactive thyroid; diabetes; a history of seizures; certain muscle problems (eg,
pain, weakness); increased creatine phosphokinase (CPK) blood levels; metabolism, hormonal, or electrolyte
problems; allergies; pregnancy; or breast-feeding. Tell your doctor if you are dehydrated; are on dialysis; have
had an organ transplant; or have recently had major surgery or a serious injury. Tell your doctor if you drink 2 or
more glasses of alcohol daily or if you have a history of alcohol abuse. USE OF CRESTOR 10mg IS NOT RECOMMENDED if
you have active liver disease, unexplained abnormal liver function test results, or if you are pregnant or
breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking Crestor
10mg.
Directions Follow the directions for using Crestor 10mg
provided by your doctor. An extra patient leaflet is available with Crestor 10mg. Talk to your pharmacist if you
have questions about this information. Crestor 10mg may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. Swallow the
tablets whole. DO NOT TAKE ANTACIDS that contain aluminum or magnesium for at least 2 hours after taking Crestor
10mg. STORE CRESTOR 10mg at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) in a tightly-closed
container, away from heat, moisture, and light. Crestor 10mg should be taken regularly to get the most benefit from
it. Taking Crestor 10mg at the same time each day will help you remember. IT IS IMPORTANT TO CONTINUE TAKING
CRESTOR 10mg even if you feel well. Most people with high cholesterol or triglycerides do not feel sick. IF YOU
MISS A DOSE OF CRESTOR 10mg, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed
dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once or within 12 hours of each other.
Cautions
DO NOT TAKE CRESTOR 10mg if you have had an allergic reaction to it, to other similar medicines, or are allergic to
any ingredient in this product. IT MAY TAKE 2 to 4 WEEKS before the full benefit of Crestor 10mg is seen. DO NOT
EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or take Crestor 10mg for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. DO
NOT STOP USING CRESTOR 10mg without first checking with your doctor. Laboratory and/or medical tests, including
liver function tests, kidney function tests, blood cholesterol levels, and creatine phosphokinase (CPK) blood
levels, may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY
APPOINTMENTS while you are taking Crestor 10mg. CRESTOR 10mg MAY CAUSE DIZZINESS. These effects may be worse if you
take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Crestor 10mg with caution. DO NOT DRIVE OR PERFORM OTHER POSSIBLY
UNSAFE TASKS until you know how you react to it. DRINKING ALCOHOL DAILY OR IN LARGE AMOUNTS may increase the risk
of liver problems with Crestor 10mg. Check with your doctor before drinking alcohol while you are taking Crestor
10mg. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, EMERGENCY CARE, OR SURGERY, tell the doctor or dentist that
you are using Crestor 10mg. REPORT ANY UNEXPLAINED MUSCLE PAIN, TENDERNESS, OR WEAKNESS to your doctor right away,
especially if you also have a fever or general body discomfort. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either
prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING CRESTOR 10mg
IN ASIAN PATIENTS AND IN THE ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to the effects of Crestor 10mg, especially
serious muscle problems (such as muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness). Contact your doctor for more information.
FOR WOMEN: If you are able to become pregnant, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about the use of effective birth
control while taking Crestor 10mg. DO NOT USE CRESTOR 10mg if you are pregnant. It may cause harm to the fetus.
AVOID BECOMING PREGNANT while you are taking it. IF YOU SUSPECT THAT YOU COULD BE PREGNANT, contact your doctor
immediately. IT IS UNKNOWN IF CRESTOR 10mg IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking Crestor
10mg. IF YOU HAVE DIABETES, Crestor 10mg may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely and ask your
doctor before adjusting the dose of your diabetes medicine.
Possible side effects SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while
taking Crestor 10mg include constipation, headache, nausea, stomach pain, or weakness. If they continue or are
bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience chest pain; bloody or dark
urine; change in the amount of urine produced; joint pain; muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness (with or without
fever or fatigue); pale stools; severe or persistent headache; severe or persistent nausea, vomiting, or stomach
pain; swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet; yellowing of the skin or eyes. AN ALLERGIC REACTION TO CRESTOR 10mg
is unlikely but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash;
hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; or
unusual hoarseness. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about

If you take too much If overdose is suspected, contact
your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Additional information
FOR BEST RESULTS, Crestor 10mg should be used along with exercise, a low-cholesterol/low-fat diet, and a weight
loss program if you are overweight. FOLLOW THE DIETARY PLAN provided by your doctor. DO NOT SHARE CRESTOR 10mg with
others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE CRESTOR 10mg for other health conditions. KEEP CRESTOR 10mg out
of the reach of children and pets. IF USING CRESTOR 10mg FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your
supply runs out.
